The following models are available:

  • AFG40B - Black, for 40mm case fans
  • AFG60B - Black, for 60mm case fans
  • AFG70B - Black, for 70mm case fans
  • AFG80B - Black, for 80mm case fans
  • AFG92B - Black, for 92mm case fans
  • AFG120B - Black, for 120mm case fans
120mm Case Cooling Fan with fitted Silicone Fan Gasket. The silicone gasket is 2.5mm thick. Silicone washers and mounting screws are also shown.

Advantages

Silicone fan gaskets are truly the ultimate in fan noise reduction, because they perform two important tasks:

  1. Help to 'seal' the small gap between the fan and the casing/enclosure wall. This improves the efficiency of the fan, by reducing feedback airflow and therefore air pressure losses, and
  2. Help to absorb the vibration that otherwise would be transmitted from the fan into the case chassis and case housing.

Other advantages include:

  • Compatible with virtually all case cooling fans
  • Supplied with screws and silicone washers
  • Quick and very easy to fit (these gaskets 'hold onto' the fan whilst fitting them due to a small lip in the gasket design)

These gaskets are suitable for the vast majority of case designs and fan combinations, as they fit standard fan mounting holes. Slightly lengthened (12mm thread) fan mounting screws are supplied with the fan gaskets and washers. These gaskets can be used with standard PC cooling fans, and not just with AcoustiFan™ quiet case fans. Note: Do not use these gaskets in very high temperature locations inside a PC/Server such as attached to CPU or GPU heat sinks!

Technical Specifications

  • Operating Temperature: (-)20 - (+)70°C
  • Softness: Shore A 25° ±5
  • Material: Translucent Silicon Rubber
  • Gasket Thickness: 2.5mm
  • Recommended Compression: 5% of height

What is Shore Hardness?

The hardness testing of plastics and rubbers is most commonly measured by the Shore (Durometer) test or Rockwell hardness test. Both methods measure the resistance of plastics toward indentation and provide an empirical hardness value.

Shore Hardness (using either the Shore A or Shore D scale), is the preferred method for rubbers/elastomers. The Shore A scale is used for 'softer' materials like silicone rubbers, while the Shore D scale is used for 'harder' materials.

The Shore hardness is measured with an apparatus known as a Durometer and consequently is also known as 'Durometer hardness'. The hardness value is determined by the penetration of the Durometer indenter foot into the sample. A 'softer' material will have a lower Shore value than a 'harder' material.

Fitting Directions

  1. Fit the fan gasket onto the outside of the fan housing (it will stay on the fan)
  2. Position the fan and gasket together against the inside of the case, so that the four mounting holes in the fan and gasket line up to the mounting holes in the case side
  3. Locate the four silicone washers and screws, and fit the washers against the case side, each secured by a screw
  4. Tighten the screws enough to very slightly compress the silicone rubber. Do not over-tighten.

Effective? - Yes, these are simply the most effective yet!

Why are these silicone fan gaskets especially effective? Because we have not held back on the silicone thickness and the silicone material softness. All gaskets are 2.5mm thick (not just 1mm like alternatives), and Shore A 25 (a great deal softer than others we have tested). We are confident that these two factors make these gaskets more effective than any other models available.
