AMD Sockets 754, 939, & 940 Quiet CPU Coolers

Socket 754 is a AMD processor socket originally developed to succeed its Athlon XP platform (AMD Socket 462, also referred to as AMD Socket A). Socket 754 was the first socket developed by AMD to support the 64 bit microprocessor family known as AMD64 (Athlon 64). The AMD Socket 939 is a CPU socket released by AMD in 2004 to supersede the previous Socket 754 for Athlon 64 processors. The AMD Socket 940 is a 940-pin socket most commonly used for 64-bit AMD server processors. AMD Opterons and the older AMD Athlon 64 FX use Socket 940.
