Common Questions
How can I tell which is the noisiest component within my PC?
In order to ascertain where the noise is coming from there is a very simple test you can carry out, just take a pencil or plastic pen lid and 'stop' momentarily each fan within the PC, including the PSU. If the noise stops/reduces you have located the offending component which would benefit from replacement with a quiet alternative.

I have just installed my new CPU cooler but my PC is not detecting a fan, what can I do?
Some motherboards have difficulty measuring low fan RPM speeds on CPU coolers. The problem can sometimes be fixed by updating the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available on the motherboard manufacturer's website. However, with some motherboards, the problem remains. Regardless, this will not affect performance. In addition, some motherboards will not boot if the CPU fan speed cannot be measured, as a safety feature. After rotating the Fan Mate speed control fully clockwise to enable booting, this feature needs to be disabled in the BIOS setup (set "CPU Fan Detect" or similar to "Disabled")

I have just received my new QTechnology power supply but the motherboard connector is 24 pin when the website states it is for 20 and 24 pin, is this correct?
The QTechnology PSU incorporates a splitter into the 24-pin ATX connector. This makes it possible to remove four of the 24-pins making it 20-pins. If you look closely to one end of the connector you will see you can slide 4-pins off.

Hard Drive Solutions
My PC chassis uses sliding drive rails to mount drives. Can I attach these rails to any of your hard drive solutions?
There should be no problem attaching the any of our hard drive silencing products to drive rails. Just keep an eye on the temperature of your hard drive for the first day or so after installation, since heat dissipation from the drive into the PC's metal chassis could be slightly reduced in comparison to mounting the product directly using screws. The Silentmaxx HDD enclosure may take up two 5.25" drive bays because the mounting holes may not align correctly. But it will install without any problems.

My hard drive has a "breather" hole which must not be covered. What now?
Most hard drives have breather holes which prevent pressure differences building up inside the drive. None of our HDD silencing solutions are airtight which means that your drive breather hole will continue to function properly even when the drive is enclosed. In summary - there is nothing to worry about!

Are any of your products compatible with removable hard drive caddies?
All of our hard drive silencing products are designed to enclose a standard hard drive, and in doing so will increase the overall size of the drive so that it no longer fits into a 3.5 inch bay, but instead will need a 5.25 inch bay. Therefore you must decide whether it is more important to have a nearly silent hard drive, or an easily removable hard drive, but not both.
If it is essential to have quiet-running drives which are also removable, then perhaps the best compromise would be to select a PC case which uses drive rails instead of screws to hold 5.25 inch drives in, so that the silencing product can be removed relatively easily. In doing this, however, the IDE cable would need to be plugged and unplugged from the motherboard (rather than the drive itself), and we would recommend the use of a "wye" power splitter cable so that the power to the enclosed drive could be disconnected easily, rather than the silencing solution having to be opened up every time the drive is removed from the PC. Note that this advice does not apply to the Zalman ZM2-HC2, which is unique in that it allows direct access to the hard drive power and data cables without the need to disassemble the drive from the silencer.

Ultra-Quiet Power Supply Units
Do higher powered power supplies cost more to run because they consume more power?
No, more powerful power supplies will consume around the same amount of power as less powerful power supplies in any given PC system. Your electricity bill will not be higher when using a more powerful power supply!

I just bought an Ultra-Quiet power supply and I can't get it to work. Is it faulty or am I doing something wrong?
It's possible that the power supply may be faulty, but here are some simple things to check. Firstly, a power supply will not work if you simply plug it in and flick the switch. The power supply will only turn on if you connect it to a working motherboard. It is actually the motherboard which tells the power supply when to switch on. Secondly (if applicable), check the voltage is set correctly to 115/230 volts depending on what country you are in. Thirdly, if possible please try the power supply in another PC to see if it works, or try another power supply in your PC to see if that works. You can then tell whether it is the power supply which is faulty or the actual PC itself. If all else fails, please contact us for further support, and/or return details.

Can I use the Ultra-Quiet power supplies with a non-Athlon PC?
Yes! The fact that these power supplies are AMD-approved for use with their Athlon processor is an added bonus; the power supply can be used with PCs containing a processor from Intel or any other manufacturer. The reason that we make a point of saying that our power supplies are "AMD Approved" is that AMD have stringent specifications relating to the design of power supplies used with their Athlon processors, which means you should not use any power supply with an Athlon-based PC unless it has passed AMD's approval process.

Why should I buy a whole new replacement power supply when I could just replace the noisy fan in my existing power supply?
Virtually all the noise generated by a PC power supply originates from the cooling fan inside it, so simply replacing the fan with an 80 mm ultra-quiet version may seem an obvious way to go. However, if you are thinking about attempting this operation, please bear the following points in mind:
1) Your existing power supply will be designed to run with a specific amount of airflow in order to adequately cool the components inside and reducing the airflow may lead to overheating and damage to the power supply and/or PC.
2) All PC power supplies contain very high voltages and even with the power disconnected, the voltages stored in the capacitors can be easily enough to kill. It is not recommended to take the cover off any PC power supply for this reason unless you are absolutely confident of your own ability. Because of the grave dangers involved, all PC power supplies must by law carry a warning label forbidding removal of the power supply casing.
3) There will be no standard 3-pin or 4-pin connector inside the power supply to use to connect a replacement fan, and it would probably have to be soldered directly into the PCB inside the power supply, or be spliced into the existing fan connector. This can be a tricky operation to say the least.
Please consider the above points very carefully before proceeding with an operation to replace the fan in your existing power supply.

Processor Cooling
Are all motherboards compatible with the Super Flower Cooler P4 S478 CNPS7000 series CPU Coolers?
No, there are some compatibility issues with certain motherboards. See the product page for more information.
Top
Should the fan on the Flower Cooler be oriented so that it blows air towards the flower heatsink, or so that it draws air away from it? And how do I know which way the air is going to be blown?
Generally speaking, the lowest CPU temperature will be obtained by having the fan blow air onto the heatsink. The exception to this is the CNPS5700D-CU with its integral fan which pulls air upward through the fins, through the duct, and out of the back of the case. You can determine the direction of airflow through a fan without switching it on by examining its body for two arrows shown at 90 degrees to each other. One arrow indicates airflow direction, and the other arrow indicates the direction of blade rotation.

The cooler I purchased came with a Fan Mate variable fan speed controller. How do I know what the lowest speed is that I can safely run the fan at, for minimum noise?
The short answer is that all P4 Zalman coolers are fine for processors up to 3.5 G Hz at the minimum Fan Mate setting (Silent Mode). When you first install the cooler, you should run the fan at full speed to ensure that everything is working properly and the PC boots successfully. Then you can turn the Fan Mate down to its minimum setting and appreciate the difference!
Re-assemble the PC and check the CPU temperature in the BIOS setup (press Del or F2 etc. when you first switch on, then look for the CPU temperature reading in "Hardware monitor" or "PC Health Status" option or similar). For an Intel processor, ensure it does not rise higher than around 65°C (actually Intel specify around 70-75°C as a maximum). For AMD processors, 20°C can be added to these figures. Some customers prefer the minimum noise level, others prefer a lower CPU temperature, so the choice is yours!

Ultra-Quiet Case Fans
Do you stock 40mm fans?
Unfortunately we do not. We have found that because of the size of the fan, it is hard to achieve a significant noise reduction by replacing it with an alternative product. This is because the smaller the fan size, the faster it needs to run, which in turn generates more noise.
Top
I received a small cable (resistor) with my 80/92mm 3 pin fan, what is it for?
The resistor cable is designed to allow the fan to run slightly slower for even quieter operation. The benefit in lower running noise is significant. Although the airflow will be reduced slightly, this usually has minimal effect on case temperature. I would recommend using the resistor for best results. The specifications on the website assume you will use the resistor.
Top
How can I tell which way the air blows on the fan?
Hold the fan so that the round fan sticker is facing you. You are looking at the rear of the fan. When you plug the fan in, the air will be blowing towards you. If you want a fan to act as an air intake, then the fan sticker will be facing the inside of the case.

Miscellaneous Questions
I have a branded server (Dell, Compaq etc), can you make it silent?
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to help. The reason for this is because we have found out that if you replace any part of the server (even something as little as a case fan) can result in the system not running as it should or not at all. With this in mind we advise customers not to tamper with any components inside any branded servers.

Do you supply any components to silence a Shuttle PC?
Unfortunately due to space restrictions, silencing a Shuttle PC is very difficult indeed. The only product we can suggest that may help is the Fan Mate. This will reduce the speed of your case fan therefore reducing the noise output. Also, if your motherboard has a fan attached to the chipset you could replace that with the Zalman Silent Motherboard Heatsink (ZM-NB32J). You could also consider Acousti's anit-vibration products. The AcoustiFeet and/or Fan Gaskets/Mounts will help to reduce the vibration caused by the system.
Top
Do you supply built PCs already silenced?
Unfortunately Quiet PC do not supply complete computers which are already silenced, although we do know of a company that does: Kustom PCs. If you contact them about your requirements, they will be more then happy to build one for you.

Does it really matter that my PC makes noise?>
Maybe you care, maybe you don't! Generally most people only care about the noise generated by their PC if the room is normally quiet with the PC switched off, because then they really notice the PC noise more. Of course there are other people with specific reasons for needing or wanting peace and quiet, such as musicians, tinnitus sufferers and hi-fi enthusiasts. The strange thing about background noise is that you only notice how intrusive it is when it stops.
Top
Will I have to buy new silencing products if I upgrade my PC?
Probably not, because almost all the products on this website can be removed as easily as they are fitted. Assuming the components in your new PC are compatible, the Quiet PC products can then easily be re-fitted.

What do your previous customers think?
"Significant noise reduction from the fan, in fact I can't actually hear it..."
A Logie, Reading, UK.
"Your instructions worked like a charm! No problems at all. The pictures were wonderful; very high quality. The resulting system is super quiet, as promised!"
Beman Dawes, Virginia, USA
"Have just installed new power supply and it sounds (or doesn't sound) great. Why didn't my case come with one of these as standard - I would have been willing to pay an extra ten or twenty quid to get the better quality power supply rather than the one that I got with the case. It took no more than 15 mins start to finish to install and it is a million times better than the power supply that I removed. I will keep the old power supply as a spare but I'm definitely in no hurry to put it back !!"
T Cook, Hornchurch, UK.
"Measured an 8dB drop in noise from my PC (43dB to 35dB). (A weighted average measured over 2 minutes). That power supply is virtually SILENT!"
M Smith, Cheshire, UK.
"The installation was straight forward for the power supply and Chassis Fan. The Silent Drive installation was quite time consuming, but the explanations I found on your site were very explicit, and easy to follow. And now? Yes, it is quiet, and I enjoy it! It could be even more silent, if my Yamaha CRW4416S had a better fan, but still, I am now happy with it. I tested the power supply alone: I couldn't hear much of it. Same thing for the chassis fan.
So now I am working and really enjoying my cool new computer which sounded, before the installation, like a helicopter! Thank you for your service! The installation instruction online is again a great idea which helped me to decide if the parts would fit in my PC. A really great thing this quietpc.com, I will for sure tell my friends about you."
T Bassal, Germany.
"As for results: I have a gaggle of hard drives in my home machine, owing to many work-related files. My PC could rouse my two cats sleeping three rooms away. With the SilentDrives installed, the drive noise was reduced to a gentle hum. There is still a whir from the CPU fan, but there is a product for that, too. More adventurous noise-sensitive owners may want to check into noise-abating power supplies and case fans."
Lee Gomes, Wall Street Journal, USA
"Received and installed power supply. Fantastic! As in the advert '..it does exactly as it says on the tin'. My PC is now ultra-quiet! ... except for the whining noise my processor makes. I've already joined the mailing list for the processor cooler. From a satisfied customer,"
R Solanki, Preston, UK.
"So far I have replaced the power supply in one of the offending machines......what a difference! I'm really quite impressed...and that's an understatement. Thanks for the extremely prompt efficient and courteous service!"
H Prince, Jersey.
"Thank you for good service. I have replaced the power supply and one of the heatsink fans; the result is good, far less noise...Your items will definitely contribute to a very silent environment. Thank you again, keep up the good work!"
P.A., London, UK.
"I have just installed my new quiet 300 W power supply (1 day delivery time with UPS. That's quite remarkable) and I must say I'm very happy with it. There is a lot of difference between this power supply and my old 300 W Fortron. The new one is almost silent. I'm very satisfied... You should know that I am a very happy customer. My PC is much more quiet after I installed the new power supply."
A.C., Stockholm University, Sweden.
"Everything is installed since this morning and working fine. When ordering I thought 'Boy, is this stuff expensive! This has to be good, or somebody makes a lot of money with nothing'. Let me tell you: This stuff is good! Even though the harddisc cases look really cheap, the effect is astounding. I spend that much money on quietpc.com, because I really was ennerved of the noise my computer was making. And I live in Berlin in the middle of the city, next to a busy street - imagine how loud my computer must have been! But now I can even leave it on at night in the room I sleep in. And the CPU doesn't get as hot as it did any more: I run a PIII 700MHz at 770MHz. The temperature with ordinary cooler and heatsink was always close to 70° Celsius with SETI at home running - now it always is around 60° Celsius. Great piece of work the CPU Cooler. And the "quietness" of the Ultra Quiet power supply is already in the name. So, all I can say is: Great products for much money - but it's worth it."
Frank Hansen, Germany.
"I received my package today, T H A T ' S G R E A T ! ! ! Thanks for all, my life is not the same than before. PS: Sorry for my english, but I wish to thank you."
English Translation:
"I did indeed strongly recommend your products to Sebastien Feugere because they're great great (especially my new power supply!). He had the same problem as me (PC noise) and bought himself a new power supply on the Internet (800FF - about £77, or US$116). It hardly changed a thing. However, with your products which are twice as cheap, I can hear the difference straight away. I don't mind at all if you quote my comments, because your products deserve it... So thanks again for your wonderful products, keep up the good work with eliminating all the din of our machines... ;' )"
Alexis Leroy, France.
"Thanks for your awesome service it arrived yesterday and i installed it without any fuss ... my pc now is almost DEAD SILENT whooo hooo can sleep at night and enjoy my mp3z soo much more now..."
D. Kumm, Australia.
"Just installed my power supply....Let's just say that I'm surprised, it is even better than I hoped it would be. Thanks for an excellent service and a good product, I'll order another one soon."
Fredrik Henriksson, Sweden.
"That is truly astonishing! I can still hear the drive, but it's just a muted rumble & the CPU's inaudible. Excellent kit!"
Bill Buchanan, South Yorkshire, UK
"I've fitted one Molex cooler to my 866 PIII CPU. It turned out it had already been fitted with a "CoolerMaster" which is a chunk of aluminium and a fan. With the CoolerMaster fitted I get CPU temperatures over 75°C which can't be good for the processor. Running the plain desktop is ok, but fire up a game like UnrealTournament and [the temperature alarm] screams its head off. Presumably this is due to extra CPU strain running more parallel operations and SIMD extensions.
So far, results with the Molex look good. The CPU goes over 60°C but not over 65°C even when running UnrealTournament. The Molex fan is very quiet when compared to the other case fans. Visually the CoolerMaster looks quite impressive but a difference of 10°C is quite significant. If the Molex really is this much better, I think we should order a few for the faster machines at the office as it could significantly extend lifetimes especially over the summer."
H.S., London, UK
"i ordered a 300w psu, a case fan, a drive enclosures and a cpu cooler on monday to receive the goods on thursday. installing the psu and the case fan was a no-brainer. especially the psu was remarkably quiet -- very silent compared to the 235w psu that it replaced. after some trial and error the drive enclosure was in place as well, and most of the hard drive sound just disappeared, although under load the sound of the heads moving across the platters is still discernible as a deep rumble. overall the results are quite impressive. even with the loud cpu cooler and an unenclosed drive, the volume of the noise has dropped considerably. perhaps just as important, the quality of the noise is different as well. it is more subdued and not as obnoxious as before."
P. Haakmat, Netherlands
"I have just installed one of your ultra quiet power supplies and am amazed at the difference it makes! As you say on your web site 'no more distraction of the whirring noise of the fan'. I just thought i'd send you this short email to congratulate you on an excellent product. Many thanks."
"Just another few words to say recvd the CPU cooler ok. Fitting it was simplicity itself and the results just great. I didn't realise just how much of a 'whine' the original cooling fan made 'till I fitted the replacement. Now I can work on my PC for long stretches without the constant irritating noises. Thanks again...Regards.."
Pete Davis, UK
"Right now, two of the machines have the new power supplies. I can hear the fan of the third one from 6 metres away. And the birds are chirping nicely. I knew these things would be quiet, but I wasn't expecting them to be _that_ quiet. You can't even hear them when you have your ear right next to the fan!"
John Anderson, www.semiosix.com, South Africa
"I finally got everything set up and running and I'm glad to say that my PC is now virtually inaudible. This is a HUGE improvement for my PC-based recording studio. Thanks a lot!"
Nason P. Schooler, USA
"Many thanks for the Ultra-Quiet power supply. I installed it yesterday with no problems. The difference was amazing, before when my PC was on I could hear it all over the house, now the loudest noise is my typing on the keyboard ! I think I might try one of your drive silencers in the not too distance future... I would be very happy for you to use my quotes, I'm also going to be recommending your kit to my friends and colleagues as I was so impressed."
Jonathan Walker, UK
"I have just fitted a power supply, CPU cooler and case fan to my PC that is used exclusively for audio recording with Logic Audio. Stunning result - it now sits unobtrusively next to the mixer. Congratulations - I have been looking for quiet coolers for years. I build a lot of PCs for audio and home and will be ordering more. The cost for peace and quiet is well worth it."
John Budden, UK
"power supply bought from you is working fine, & keeping PC cooler and quieter than any previous power supply. It's even cooler than a near-identical power supply that came with case. (And obviously quieter than all!)"
Rob North, UK
"My PC is great! At last I can sit at my desk and hear the birds sing rather than my computer thundering like a piece of industrial machinery. Here in my office in the natural quiet, I can't understand how I put up with such a noisy machine for so long, or why anybody should. I'm sure it is only because people don't realise that they could have the peace of a silent machine that they don't do something about it. So thanks for your services, which I'm happy to recommend to anyone who wants to hear themselves think."
Clive Davidson, UK
"Just a quick note to say that I have now installed my CPU fan, and I'm glad to say the reviews weren't fibbing! Only problem for me now is that it's made me wonder just how much *more* quiet it would be if I got the power supply you do as well - but my budget won't stretch to that just now! Having said that, however, even the difference the QuietPC CPU fan is amazing. When I'm watching television, I no longer have the annoying rattle of the old CPU fan in the background - and in a flat as small as the one I occupy, that's a real boon! Er - you don't do kitchen extractor fans as well, do you? :-) "
Richard Winpenny, UK
"I received the [CPU] fans yesterday, thanks. They've installed fine (quite a lot of force to put them in though - invoking paranoia about breaking the plastic retention clips on the socket!!) They keep my system at 30C (CPU1) and 28C (CPU2) at idle, and go up to about 45C with burnbx running twice, once per CPU. Very satisfying! They are much quieter than those that they replaced, and that is saying something. I have a software utility that controls the fans on the BP6 [motherboard], and if I turn them off, I can't hear the difference, so that can't be bad. The two fans do not appear to interfere with one another. Considering that there are two of the Molex coolers doing their stuff, the noise level is nothing short of phenomenal."
Paul Vetch, UK
"Your power supplies are simply breathtaking. How the devil did you ever get them to be so quiet? Why aren't your products on the tip of everyone's tongue? I use a PC Power And Cooling 235 Watt supply and it sounds like a freight train compared to the Quiet PC 250 Watt supply! Whenever I build a system for someone or recommend a power supply on the program, if they want silence and performance, we are going through Quiet PC. Period."
Jeremy Smith, host of General Protection Fault, computer issues radio program
"We don't normally feature sites that sell stuff here, but this was such a clever little invention we couldn't resist. QuietPC.com has all the gubbins required to reduce the infernal racket your PC makes by up to 90% - and it's pretty affordable too. The site's packed with info about how they can make your PC whisper rather than hum."
Maximum PC Network
"I installed the psu, case fan and cpu fan and all worked fine. My computer doesn't sound like the industrial machinery it did before anymore. It does make some small noise, but for a 300w psu, the sound level is amazing. Compare it to Dell and Gateway computers and you'll know the difference. Thanks for taking care of my order. Love your service! Thanks again!
Kimble Chan, Australia
"Thanx for your help the service is the best I have had from an online company."
Ben Graves, UK
"Anyway, I'd just like to say again that your service has been excellent, and I'm also very impressed with the products. My computer is now much quieter than before; I can hear it when I am sitting at it, but the noise level is much reduced."
D. Pierce-Price, UK
"The fan works great! My computer will probably stay on 24 hrs now because I will forget to turn it off - no noise to remind me! I think the product is FANtastic!..."
Bill Adkins, Florida, USA
"I was just happily surfing on Tuesday - and thought boy my PC sounds loud! So I found your site, ordered the product, the following evening my power supply blew up!! Strange! Anyway this new [250W] power supply is amazing, it is totally silent! All I can hear are the harddrives now ... The new power supply fixed another problem I had - suspend to RAM never seemed to work with my new graphics card, I guess there wasn't enough juice in the old one to keep it running on low power mode - this is cured now! To be honest I was a little bit sceptical when I read those quotes, but I am a total convert now! I guess the more quotes you have - the less chance for sceptics like me to doubt! As for the OLD power supply.. who knows! Divine intervention?"
Benjamin Kelly, UK
"After ordering from you I found the after sales support outstanding. The products I received amazed me, the difference in sound level is quite amazing. My PCs sound level dropped from 37db to a mere 28db. Keep up the good work QuietPC! I will definitely be recommending QuietPC to all my friends."
Richard Innes, UK
"I received my order today. First off, I want to say how speedy the delivery time was. It got here way before what I would have expected it to take. As for the items I purchased my comments are as follows. cpu cooler: nice and quiet. Cools my cpu way better than the aftermarket cooler I had on it before did. fan: even quieter than the fans that came with my case, and I seriously thought those were quiet to begin with! power supply: ah yes, the good ol' power supply. Well, I must say, it surprised me. It was quieter than anything I would have ever imagined! It puts my old power supply to shame (of course my old one was 400W (vs. 300W), but still though). I'm still fairly confident your power supply is quieter than PC Power and Cooling's 275W power supply. You guys really have a kick-ass product (all 3 of them, and not just the power supply). I'm a very happy customer, thank you! ... Of course you can quote me on your website. I would be honored to have my words on there. Whenever a company produces a product of superior performance (and especially bundled with a very reasonable price), I feel that they should be recognized for their accomplishment/achievement, via word of mouth advertising and ultimately, I wish them healthy sales and revenue growth rates, for they deserve such a fate. Keep up the good work (your customer service isn't too shabby either!) "
Michael Hu, Michigan, USA
"I've installed both fans and I'm so impressed by the reduction in noise that I'm moved to thank you. My PC used to roar like a leafblower and now it purrs like a cat. I'm delighted."
Giles Clark, UK
"received as promised. installed with results even more impressive than i could have reasonably expected. gets recommendations to my fellow homeworkers! thanks again"
Chris Amos, UK
"Finally my new PC is up and running and is really quiet too!! I have changed the standard power supply in my rackmount case with your 300W model, replaced the two 80MM front panel fans with the 2 silencers one and installed my new MOBO with PIII800 cooled by the Molex radiator.Put 2 of my maxtor drives in the silentdrives and after turning everything on I was relly surprised of the quietness of the system. I mean, is not dead silent (I guess because 2 80MM fan make a little noise and also I have a WD Hard drive withouth silentdrive) but compared to my previous system it is a great improvement. For sure is quieter than any other standard PC or Mac. So I'm really satisfied!!"
Giuseppe Pischetola, Italy
"I just received your 300W powersupply after ordering it this past Saturday. I'm truly impressed in the speed in which I received it and the quality of your product. I recently built an Athlon 900 PC and found that the power supply was quite loud. Your product solved the problem nicely! I'm looking forward to purchasing the upcoming Athlon CPU cooler and a case fan."
Jeff Bailey, New York, USA
"Just installed one of your new Athlon CPU fans and it works like a dream. Thanks!"
Chris Yiu, UK
"Took delivery of the fans yesterday, installed it in a new Enlight case, and I'm delighted - The Radial Fin Socket A cooler is gorgeous and is doing a wonderful job of keeping my 1GHz Athlon at 35 degrees C, without a secondary fan in the front of the case. All this, and in virtual silence! I will be recommending your company and its excellent product range to friends and colleagues looking for the best in cooling."

"My new 300W power supply showed up yesterday afternoon. I can not believe I received it 6 days after placing my order. I installed the new unit in about 5 minutes. When I turned on my PC I would not have known the power supply was working if it wasn't for the LEDs on my motherboard. This is easily the quietest 300W Power Supply I have used. I'm very satisfied with my purchase."
Michael Pearson, Kansas, USA
"I've just received one of your power supply's and I'm writing to say how pleased I am with it. I must admit that I was a bit sceptical before I installed it and wondered how much quieter just another power supply could be. It is amazing, so much quieter than my previous power supply I even had to check to convince myself that the fan was actually running. Thanks very much and I will certainly be recommending your power supply's and using them in future."
David Cooper, UK
"I already got it! One day earlier than expected. UPS Express delivery is quite impressive. The package was in Pennsylvania at midnight but I received it here in Vancouver, Canada at noon. :) I got the [300W] power supply and the Socket-A CPU fan, and they are two of the greatest products ever. :) My Duron 800 is cooled to 34~44°C in virtual SILENCE. It's not QUIET. It's SILENT. I tested them without the hard drives unplugged and I couldn't hear anything. (With no exaggeration) I was quite shocked not to hear anything when turning on the computer. :) The only noisy component is the hard drive now. I am looking forward to order the SilentDrive as soon as you have them in stock. Thanks a lot for marketing great products. Every penny of the $230 (Canadian) that I spent was worth it. P.S. I am going to build a site in the near future with instructions on how to build a quiet PC. I am definitely recommending your products."
Joo Hang Cha, Canada
"As you promised the UPS van arrived today with my parts. I must say what a difference its has made after fitting the power supply and disk enclosure. All I can hear now is the Processor Fan, and what a noise it makes now... Once again I would like to say how pleased I am with the service I have received from you and the parts have made so much difference to the noise levels of my PC."
John Brimlow, UK
"I have just recieved my 300W power supply and CPU cooler and fitted them to my PC. Being naturally sceptical I was not surprised when I turned it on to find that although much quieter, my system was emitting an extremely annoying high pitched whir. Congratulating myself on my pessimism I decided to try setting Windows to shut down the hard drive after 3 minutes. The minutes passed and then click...........nothing.......silence. I literally could not believe my ears. That whine must have been there all the time obscured by cheap fan noises. Thank you QuietPC for producing a product that actually surpasses expectations. A rare thing these days. Shortly I shall be kitting out my other two PC's with power supply's and coolers as well as Silentdrives for all three. I will also be recommending your products to my friends. I can't believe how stressful it now feels to sit at a noisy PC all day. Thanks again, I wish you success."
Steve Hockings, UK
"The silentdrive is excellent. I've wrapped it around a 7,200 rpm IBM SCSI drive (it has 5.1W idle and passes the temperature test) which is now virtually - well, silent. All the irksome high end noise is gone, leaving a quite satisfying low throb, which is (almost) pleasant. This will preserve its life, I was so fed up with it before I had set it to power down after 2 minutes."
Paul Vetch, UK
"I was having 2nd thoughts about removing the stock HS/Fan from my slot 1 PIII 1GHz (100 FSB) as it was doing a good cooling job, averaging about 35C (compared to my PIII 700 with Golden Orb at about 43C), but had an annoyingly loud whine/hum. Popped your Radial Fan on (btw, instructions are as accurate as possible!!) and it's now inaudible - if I stick my ear right next to the fan I can hear a slight wind noise, but no fan whine. The early indications on cooling are that it's about the same as the Intel stock HS/Fan - good enough for me. The only change I made was to use Arctic Silver heat compound instead of the pad so I can't comment on the effectiveness of that. Thanks for a great product, and if you want to use these comments on your web-site, please feel free. "
Adrian Hall, UK
"I've installed the cooler on the 1.1Ghz CPU. It works great! Before I had a quite large, really noisy Pentalpha (?) fan. The quietpc fan is virtually silent. The old fan kept the CPU on approx 59 degrees celcius, now it is running at approx 61. Now I'm considering to buy the silentdrive since the drive is the new main source of noise... Thanks for selling great products! "
Fredrik Sandberg, Sweden
"I have just installed the Power Supply, Processor Cooler and SilentDrive and WOW!!!....... This is unbelievable, I use my PC as the heart of a home-studio for audio, so you can appreciate how vital low noise levels are. I would heartily recommend these products to anybody wishing to improve the quality of their working environment - and you can quote me if you wish!! "
Andrew Carr, UK
[Re: 250W Quiet power supply] "Wow!!! It's in (trivial job to fit isn't it?) and started up... That is really whisper-quiet - you'd hardly know it was on!! I had to crawl under the desk and stick my face in it to believe the fan is working. As soon as I can afford it, I'll definitely stick a 300W one in my server too. Thanks again."
Jon Ralls, Scotland
"today i received my power supply unit..and well i really can't judge it ;) Don't get me wrong i suppose it works great but i can't afford to risk to stop my chrome orb on the athlon 1100 just to listen how loud is the psu fan :P Now as you can guess i'm getting spoiled with silence and want to shut-up that damned high pitch cpu fan.( after that i should have a real silent system as my ibm hard disk is quite silent )... best regards and thanks for the "probably" silent power supply unit ;)"
Nicola Valentini, Italy
"I have now taken delivery of my 300w power supply and all I can say is....WOW!! The only noise coming from my pc now is the Athlon CPU fan (I have ordered the CPU fan from you) and when I stop the CPU fan my system is virtually silent!! I have to keep checking to see if it is actually working..and it most definately is. Have an IBM 30gb HD [IBM Deskstar 75GXP 30.7Gb UDMA100] and it's very quiet itself......ahhhh at last, silence ! A satisfied customer."
Toby Roberts, UK
"The order arrived safely last week and I have now installed the components in 3 computers and all users are very pleased with the results. The difference is just phenomenal !! I just had a call from my son whose computer I modified for him over the weekend. He had been complaining about the racket for some time and had no option but to turn it off each night because it was in his bedroom. I installed a Socket 7 processor fan, a power supply fan and a hard drive cover. He said it sounds even better than a new computer now and he finds himself checking the screen just to make sure that it is still on!! I came across your particular products in an article on computer generated noise in the Sound on Sound magazine who were very complimentary. I am very impressed and I have already started spreading the word. Keep it up!!!"
Jonathan Summers, UK
"The SECC2 cooler arrived this morning. After building it onto my PIII I switched the PC on and it was so quiet that I had to open the case to be sure it was running - which it was. Unbelievable !! Brilliant !!"
James, Frankfurt, Germany
"I received all the goods, and I have to say it's absolutely amazing how quiet things have gotten. The wife approval factor is immeasurable and amazing. She even asked at one point last week, why I was sitting in front of my PC without having it on, little did she know that at the time I was ripping MP3's and the blank screen saver had kicked in. They are truly very good products. I'm still able to overclock my AMD Duron 750 to 900 MHz using the cooler, the difference between the Thermaltake Chrome Orb cooler and the one you sell, is 2 degrees Celsius warmer at full cpu load, so the Duron runs at 42C, which is perfect and completely silent at the same time!! I basically only hear the harddisk seek at times, which is just fine. Word of mouth going to all my colleagues and PC freaks."
William Thiers, Switzerland
"Just a very quick note to say I installed your power supply and chip fan yesterday. All went swimmingly and my computer is now as quiet as a mouse. The change is quite something. Used to always have an annoying background rumble going on, hated to leave my pc on if not using it for a while. Now I'll probably be leaving it on by accident, thinking it was off. Your parts certainly are not the cheapest, some of my friends think I was mad spending £85 to make my computer quieter, but it will probably give me as much long term benefit as any other upgrade that I might buy."
James McGowan, Scotland
"People here can't believe how silent my computer is, even with the case off."
Jon Hassall, UK
"I finally got my machine put together with a QuietPC power supply, case fan, and CPU fan. Now I can sleep with it in the same room! I thought you'd be interested to know that I'm using one of your current Athlon fans (rated to 1.0GHz) on a 1.2GHz/266MHz FSB chip, and even after running the SETI@Home client for over 12 hours straight, it's at a comfy 56.4 deg C, and the motherboard temp is only 28.5C. Thanks for the great products!"
Phil Steinke, Ontario, Canada
"I received my case fan and atx power supply today, have fitted them and am stunned to say the least by the power supply. I know full well the amount of noise a standard atx fan throws out so was amazed by the reduction in noise this alone has given me. However I should have done my research a little more thoroughly as when I had my case open tonight I had a play around and discovered the amount of racket my CPU fan causes. Therefore I would like to order a FCPGA cooling fan from you ( I have an Intel FCPGA CPU ) as well as a hard drive enclosure. I switched on my PC with these two disconnected and couldn't hear a pin drop so that is definitely the way to go for me now !!"
Paul Rodgers, England
"This fan makes the computer sound less like a jet engine, whilst looking more like one!"
Brian Woodroffe, Scotland
"Your SilentDrive product should really be called WhatDrive?, as most people I've asked have struggled to hear anything! My IBM Deskstar 75GXP 75GB runs in near total silence, and so far has only reached a maximum temperature of 40C, despite a heat dissipation of 8.1 watts and some fairly hefty workouts. The noise from my dual processors (1GHz PIIIs) has been reduced from the howling tornado of Intel's default heatsinks, to an imperceptible sigh, thanks to the Molex heatsinks. They are running at a very respectable 30C. Now I can hear the traffic again! Thanks a million!"
Allan Erskine, England
"[SilentDrive, Ultra-Quiet power supply 250W] Just wanted to say THANK YOU for the quiet you've brought into my home. It's simply great! I've never had such a quiet PC. In fact, it's now so quiet that I can hear the noise from my CPU fan (a standard Intel fan that comes with the 933PIII Coppermine s/370), so I've just ordered one of your copper radial fin coolers. Silence is bliss. Keep up the good work! Thanks again."
Richard Artz, Colorado, USA
"Two days ago I received my order.... two minutes later I had opened the little parcel... and two hours later I was running at silent mode ;-) Simply amazing your devices, especially the case coolers were astounding !! What am I writing here, everything touched my soul...I'm not feeling anymore like sleeping next to a 747 when my holy 10k U/min HD speeds up. thanks for all !! Another thing is, I wanted to order some additional silent drives and a case cooler but I was a little too quick. Some friends of mine also want to have some of your great tools so I have to wait an additional day or maybe two to place another order. So ...others will follow, I promise ! Have a nice - and quiet - weekend ! Yours sincerely,"
Frank Radovanovic, Germany
"I have installed your 300W power supply and case fan, and it does make a big difference to the noise. Also, the machine seems to be more reliable, as I think my old 200W supply was struggling with everything that's in this PC."
Ashley Stevens, England
"Just to let you know that I've fitted the new Radial Fin cooler to my 1.2 gig Athlon, and it's working just fine. I've ran it under load for a couple of hours now (UD dist. computing screensaver + SiSoft Sandra in CPU burn-in mode), and it's running at 61 degrees C (according to Asus Probe), or 51 Degress (according to BIOS & SiSoft Sandra). Who knows which is correct, but that's exactly the same temp, give or take a degree, as I was getting with the old Taisol extruded jobbie, so it's working well !! Adding two more case fans has dropped it down to 59 degrees, but I think I'll leave them off for now - there's slightly less noise with just the two. So I'm very pleased, and the noise is now back down to a reasonable level again. Now I just need to do something about this clattering keyboard ...... Many thanks"
Carl Wicklow, England
"Hello, I just got the power supply and the CPU Fan. This is best product since bread and butter. I had my doubts when I read emails from other users on your website, but this is amazing. I would like to say thank you for your innovative product."
Henry Kim, California, USA
"The parts did indeed arrive on Wednesday and I now have a much quieter PC, I only wish I'd plumped for the CPU cooler at the same time, as the old cpu fan was the only thing I could hear once the power supply and SilentDrive were in place! I'm impressed with the reduction and glad that the parts lived up to their claims. Thanks for fulfulling my expectations."
Jamie Wither, England
"Hello I just wanted to say that my PX fans arrived just before the weekend, and they work, great!! Not only are they much quieter but also they keep the cpu's alot cooler. =) Thanx for some great products, you got my vote! Feel free to quote me, that's no problem at all. When it comes to products like this, and customer service you should have all the credit for it."
Kristian Holm, Sweden
"I just received my CPU cooler and 2 case fans and I admit I am impressed. I work at night on my computer when my family sleeps and even the background noise of my computer was disturbing my concentration. I think I will really enjoy working in silence from now on. It will be really difficult going back to standard cooling hardware if I ever have to. I already recommended your website and products to many people. Outstanding products, thank you !"
Lorenzo Sandini, Finland
"Many thanks for the arrival of my psu and cpu fan. What can I say! I had it fitted and running in about 30 mins and the majority of that time was spent screw fiddling and juggling my glasses! I just cannot believe the difference it has made. The loudest noise now is the hd 'pinking' - I can't believe it, it really is remarkable - and that's just stopped now! Thanks to your product I can hear both myself think and the clock ticking! I'm recommending your product to all my friends - even those without PC's. A brilliant product and super service - I was even able to track my package as it sped ever onward up the M1. Sorry for sounding so manic, but honestly if you could hear the difference! Anyway, I'll have to go as it's time to get my hearing aid tested!!!! Good luck and thanks again."
Robert Fairbrother, England
"I just wanted to inform you that the new cooler is working perfectly well - it's extremely silent. It is surprising however, how once I've removed one major noise (the coolers on my old athlon), the supposedly quiet Enermax "whisper" becomes anything but a whisper. I suppose that it's time to save up for a new power supply. Thanks for your help."
Silvano Cauchi Savona, England
"Just wanted to say thanks for the products. I arrived home back to Budapest, and I have built in the parts to our computers. Your ATX power supply is much quieter than the one supplied with the Palo Alto ATX case. The computer with your fan, silentdrive enclosure and silent power supply is completly noiseless in the Palo case. It is amazing, only the sound of the monitor is dimming. I just leave it on for the whole night for my long downloads, we can sleep without trouble next to it. My mother and sister can work much better on it the whole day long, they say this was the best PC investment we've ever made."
Imre Kozak, Hungary
"My CPU fans arrived this morning. I'm very pleased with them so far, they've made a huge difference to the noise output of the PC. The noisiest components are now the CD rom drives. For your information I had no problems fitting them to an Abit VP6 dual motherboard. There is plenty of clearance between the nice big buttons on the clamps and the first memory DIMM. So far the fans are doing their job as well as the massive and horribly loud fans they've replaced. Thanks again."
Paul Holman, England
"Simply amazing! I've installed the power supply, CPU cooler and silentdrive and my pc is significantly cooler, the only bit I can actually hear is the CPU cooler, and it beats the cooler-master I had hands down, listening to mp3s and watching television is bearable now! Everyone should spend an extra hundred pounds when they buy a new PC and install products like these - money well spent!"
Dan Gray, England
"Finally, I got my computer to the store and they took off the noisy Mini Super Orb and installed your fan. I can't hear it over the power unit (have to buy one too) and the processor runs 15 degrees lower than before! (when playing Serious Sam it got to 75 celsius, now 60) and this is in a hot summer in Spain at 4 pm (without air conditioning). I have a PIII 1GHz. This has been a vast improvement. With the old fan, I was forced to put the computer in another room, opened, with the cables around the wall... well a terrible setup. And it made not only noise, but smelled awfull too! Now I can have it in the same room, as it should be. I'm glad I made the right decision buying your product."
Sergi Llopart, Spain
"I just installed my new power supply and case fan, and you cannot imagine how pleased we are! They are even quieter than I dared to hope for. It should make you and your colleagues happy to know that you're making people's lives better by removing the grating irritation of constant background noise while they're working on their computers. Thank you so very much. You've been great: immediate responses to my questions, reassuring follow-up emails, fast shipping, easy installation, and a wonderful product. With many wishes for well-deserved success in your business."
