Both the 40mm and 50mm fans are 10mm thick and have 3-pin connectors for
direct attachment to motherboard fan headers (pins). This allows the
motherboard to read the fan's RPM (speed) and, if supported, the
motherboard can sound an alarm in the unlikely event the fan fails.
For customers who are short of motherboard fan headers, we would recommend using the Zalman Multi-Connector Cable ZM-MC1 to convert our 3-pin
computer fans to a 4-pin connector or opt for the AcoustiFan DustPROOF
Series, for connection to an available 4 pin connector from the power
supply.
