The SMART DRIVE NEO is the most feature-rich and sophisticated 5.25" hard disk silencer case/enclosure - it is a premium quality product for customers who demand the best. Grow Up Japan comment that it is the highest quality product that they have released to date.
Even if a hardware product is affordable, it is useless if it does not perform properly (it is also a waste of money!). Grow Up Japan understand that price is important, but they consider performance and long-term satisfaction more important - and this product reflects that ethos. The Smart Drive NEO is a new generation of HDD silencer, which will reduce hard disk noise, vibration and operating temperatures, aiding computer longevity, and supporting optimal HDD performance.

Reduce HDD Noise
Nowadays, PC noise is not only an annoyance but it is fast becoming a health issue, helping to aggravate conditions like tinnitus, for example. SMART DRIVE NEO will reduce the buzzing noise that come from hard disk drives, making a huge acoustic difference. You will get amazing results from this SMART DRIVE NEO disk enclosure.
Protect Valuable HDD Data from Dust and Water
The Smart Drive NEO will protect an enclosed HDD and the essential data on that disk from accidents, like spilling your drink on to the PC, or other water ingression, because it is waterproof. It is a sealed-case, and as such even tiny dust particles will not penetrate inside the SMART DRIVE case. The Smart Drive Neo is therefore suitable for industrial applications, which will help to prevent PC or Server failures due to dust or water ingression.
Noise & Temp Performance Testing
Experimental data demonstrates that the Smart Drive NEO HDD enclosures help significantly to reduce both noise and disk operating temperatures:
The chart shows the Smart Drive (Classic) and Smart Drive (NEO QQ) performance against a unenclosed (bear) disk drive. The HDD used in this test was a Western Digital (WD) Raptor 1600 ADFD (12,000RPM). The ambient air temperature during this test was 28°C. The Smart Drive NEO QQ was found to reduce noise levels to 34.8dB from 50.3dB during read/write operations. A graph on the right hand side shows the HDD operating temperature of the disk inside the Smart Drive NEO QQ case was reduced from 52°C to 46°C (that is from 126°F to 115°F).

Heat-Radiating HDD Enclosure
The majority of disk enclosures do not release heat. They may prevent heat accrual to an extent, but the Smart Drive NEO is a HDD radiator. Tests (results above) prove that it reduces HDD temperatures by as much as 6°C, over those operating temperatures where the HDD in not enclosed. The SMART DRIVE NEO is finished in a special sprayed coating used to transfer heat away more quickly and efficiently. Our test results proved that this finish reduced the operating heat from an enclosed HDD by 2°C. The black coating is not just for outside appearance, it is more an effective endothermic feature of the enclosure.
Unique Design Features
The SMART DRIVE NEO enclosures feature the following design components:
- Specially designed springs that suspend the disk and absorb vibrational noise
- High-temp gel suspension cushions (improved performance over rubber)
- Thin sound absorbing materials in the top of the cover (effective for blocking low frequency noise from HDDs)
- Innovative screw design for the top cover (helping to keep the enclosed HDD stable)
- Flexible conductive pad, fits closely to the HDD contours for a close fit and efficient heat transfer
- The SATA cable is tucked between the top and body parts (forming an almost 100% seal)
