It seems that every week there is a new, quicker faster CPUs, motherboard, VGA card that has just been released. Unfortunately most of that translates into generating more heat inside the computer. Many of us forget that one of those heat sources also comes from the Northbridge chipset. Like the CPU cooler, Northbridge coolers can also be passively cooled or actively cooled.

Most people are aware of heatpipes and the technology behind them, which has been used in CPU coolers for many years. Thermalright have taken this technology and applied it to a Northbridge cooler, the HR-05 IFX . Due to the large surface area of the cooler it is possible to have the cooler passive (without a fan) or cooled actively (with a fan). This makes the HR-05 IFX one of the best performing Northbridge heatsinks we have come across.
