The TRUE Black 120 Rev.A features a patent-pending design of the fins. In every corner of every fin, a “winglet” is created. This bending of the corners creates an increased air pressure and in return decreases air resistance, so even with a low RPM fan you get massive air flow through the fins. The user can attach any 120mm fan and watch those high CPU temperatures go way down. With a low fan RPM, the cooler is extremely quiet but performance remains, which is what you would expect from a high-end CPU cooler.
Move
Thermalright TRUE Black Rev.C quiet CPU cooler.
Thermalright TRUE Black Rev.A silent heat sink.
Thermalright TRUE Black Rev.A low noise heatsink cooler.
Thermalright TRUE Black Rev.B silent CPU cooler.
The cooler consists of five U-shaped heatpipes to transfer the heat from the base of the cooler up and through the attached fins, maximizing the heat transfer. But that’s not all, due to the winglet design mentioned earlier; it also increases the surface area. All these features translates into more cooling power.
The main differences between Ultra-120 eXtreme and TRUE Black 120 are in the color and additional accessories. More specifically, TRUE Black 120 includes the new Chill Factor 2, the upgraded version of the original thermal paste, the Chill Factor. It also has an extra set of fan wire clips for a push-pull, two fan installation. Performance is the same for both in single fan mode.
Compatibility
TRUE Black 120 Rev.A- Compatible with Intel Intel Core i7, Core 2 Duo and any Socket LGA775 processor and AMD Phenom X4 and any Socket AM2 & AM2+. Socket 754/939 owners will require the S939 Bolt Through Kit.
Does not include a backplate for AM2&AM2+ systems. If your motherboard is equipped with plastic backplate, you need to replace it with the Therm, alright AM2 metal backplate.
It is recommended that you look at the Motherboard Compatibility Information for further information.
Xeon Compatibility
Thermalright have now increased the compatibility of the this cooler with the new Xeon compatible mounting kit. The kit is compatible with Intel Xeon LGA771, mPGA604 and Xeon 5000 and 7000. Finally we have a cooler that is compatible with the Xeon socket, so at last you can replace those noisy stock coolers! Just click here to view the product.

| Thermalright TRUE Black Rev.A CPU cooler reviews |
“That’s no moon, its Thermalright’s Ultra 120E-1366 cooler with an optional second fan clipped to it. Yeah, it all but eclipses everything on our motherboard, but it’s actually a somewhat quiet and very effective cooler. Running our proc at a conservative 4GHz, we hammered the CPU overnight with Prime95 and didn’t see one hiccup.” (TRUE Black)
